In Eleonore Holmgren's debut novel, Adam is on the run from a drug dealer when he desperately breaks into a house in the Stockholm archipelago. There, he is surprised by 86-year-old Britta, a feisty and determined woman who, against her children's wishes, has escaped to her beloved summer house. Britta lets Adam stay in the house as she realizes she cannot manage on her own. He receives room and board in exchange for hard work and following her every command. At first, there is great friction and bad blood between them, but soon a friendship grows that changes them both.
