«Descalzo sobre la tierra roja» is the biography of Bishop Pere Casaldàliga by Francesc Escribano, in paperback (929 pages, Ediciones Península).
The book traces the life of Pere Casaldàliga, from his traditional family in Francoist Spain to his work as bishop in Brazil, where he embraces liberation theology and defends indigenous people and the poor; this commitment pits him against the military dictatorship, local powers and the Vatican, and turns him into a symbol under threat of death.
The work is number 42 in the Atalaya collection from Ediciones Península and is translated from Catalan.
A work of interest for readers of biographies and contemporary history, especially that of Brazil and the Church's social commitment.
