«Diálogo de la lengua» is the dialogue on the Spanish language by the humanist Juan de Valdés, published by Libertarias Prodhufi in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
Written by Valdés around 1535 in Naples, this dialogue was not published until 1736. In it he reflects on Renaissance Spanish and, fearing that the language might fragment like Latin, proposes fixing it by relying on popular speech and proverbs, with criteria more lexical and phonetic than grammatical. It thus remains a testimony to 16th-century Castilian.
Volume 16 of the Clásicos collection, edited by Antonio Quilis Morales. First edition published in 1999.
For students and scholars of the Spanish language, as well as for those interested in Renaissance literature and linguistics.

Juan de Valdés was a Spanish religious writer and Catholic reformer.
