«Die Wachsflügelfrau» is the historical novel by Eveline Hasler, published by Verlag Nagel & Kimche AG in paperback (333 pages, in German).
Novel about Emily Kempin-Spyri, the first female jurist in the German-speaking world and niece of Johanna Spyri. In 1899, with her life's project failed, she applies for a position as a maid in a pastor's house. Hasler unearths a silenced story, more than an early emancipation with a tragic end.
The book's subtitle is «Geschichte der Emily Kempin-Spyri» and the cover features the mention «Roman». The narrative is set within the history of female emancipation in Switzerland between 1880 and 1900.
For readers of German literature interested in fictionalised biographies of pioneering women and in the history of female emancipation.
