Jeanne is a carefree high school teacher. At thirty-five years old and weighing eighty-five kilos, she lives a quiet, independent, and self-assured life on the thirty-first floor of a modern building in Paris, completely oblivious to her obesity. That is, until one unfortunate day when vandals destroy and disable all the elevators in the building. Jeanne suddenly finds herself completely isolated in her own home for an entire weekend. The solicitous understanding of her colleagues, the exaggerated kindness of her friends and neighbors, make her feel like a helpless invalid unable to survive on her own. Unexpectedly, she discovers that her self-sufficiency was merely a protective mask. The awareness of her vulnerability forces her to make a decision: to start a strict diet. Progressively, as her kilos disappear, she sees how her life and personal world crumble in unison. Her relationship with her students sours, her colleagues whisper, her friends' hidden envy is revealed, and her relationship with her mother deteriorates. Unstoppable, her diet goes far beyond a simple and anecdotal physical change, dragging her through a deep and irreversible search and inner renewal, filled with discoveries and renunciations, leading to a final outcome as turbulent as it is unexpected.
