«Dogfish» is Gillian Shields' children's picture book in hardcover, published by Simon & Schuster Children's (32 pages, English).
A boy who wants a dog like everyone else discovers that his mother only offers him his goldfish. Since a fish doesn't fetch sticks, wag its tail, or go for walks, the little one tries to teach it to do so, and the story asks whether a fish can end up being the perfect pet.
Published in 2008, with illustrations by Dan Taylor. Recommended reading for ages 2 to 6.
A story suitable for storytelling and reading aloud to young children.
