«Dois Irmãos» is the novel by Milton Hatoum published by Companhia das Letras in paperback (266 pages, in Portuguese).
In this novel, Milton Hatoum narrates the story of twins Yaqub and Omar and their family in Manaus, on the banks of the Rio Negro. The son of Domingas, the domestic servant, reconstructs thirty years later the dramas he witnessed in silence: the rivalry between the brothers, the mother's preference, and relationships marked by revenge, incest, and excessive passion in a house that falls apart.
The work received the Prêmio Jabuti 2001 for best novel.
