«Du pétrole au plastique» is the children's nonfiction book by Raphaëlle Brice, published by Gallimard jeunesse in paperback (40 pages, in French).
The book explains, in a didactic way, what petroleum is, why it is called «black gold», how it is extracted, what life is like on an oil platform and what role refineries play; it then describes how it is transformed into plastic and what advantages and disadvantages it presents.
It is number 6 in the Découverte Benjamin collection, published in 1985. The illustrations are by Sophie Kniffke.
Recommended for readers aged 10 to 12 interested in science and the origin of everyday objects.
