«Een rat in de val» is the crime novel by Simon de Waal and A.C. Baantjer, published by Lebowski in paperback (186 pages, in Dutch).
Detective Peter van Opperdoes and his colleague Jacob investigate a corpse found in a car pulled from the Singelgracht in Amsterdam. The vehicle's owner disappeared years ago, but the body is not identifiable. The victim did not drown: they were already dead before falling into the canal, and a bag with papers and banknotes in the trunk complicates the case.
Fifth installment of the De Waal & Baantjer series, originally published in 2011.
For readers of crime and mystery fiction, especially those who appreciate cases set in Amsterdam.
