«Ein Job» is the crime novel by Irene Dische, published by Dtv in paperback (154 pages, in German).
Kurdish hitman Alan Korkunç, known as the Black Stone in Istanbul, arrives in New York to carry out a job. Speaking no English and of rural origin, he clashes with an unfamiliar city: his attempt to appear cold and professional crumbles in grotesque black-humor situations as he takes on work that poses dilemmas.
German translation by Reinhard Kaiser of the original work «The Job»; unabridged edition published in November 2002.
For readers of crime fiction with black humor and satire, interested in stories of culture clash and antiheroes.
Irene Dische is an American-Austrian author, journalist, screenwriter, and librettist whose work explores the German-Jewish experience, alienation, and exile.
