«El arte de llevar gabardina» is a collection of short stories by Sergi Pàmies, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (150 pages, in Spanish).
The thirteen stories mix childhood episodes, the ageing of parents and adolescent bewilderment with collective scars of the 20th century, such as 9/11, the Spanish Transition, the fall of communism and exile. Pàmies sharpens observation and uses irony, melancholy and the absurd to speak of expectations, absences and failures of maturity.
Spanish-language version by the author, published in 2019 in the Narrativas hispánicas collection. It won the Premi de la Crítica de Narrativa Catalana and the Premi Crítica Serra d'Or de Contes i Narracions.
A work for those who enjoy the literary short story and brief narrative, with an ironic and melancholy register.
