«El arte del ingenio» is a selection of epigrams and aphorisms by Oscar Wilde, published by Valdemar in paperback (218 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together phrases, opinions and witticisms by Oscar Wilde taken from his plays, short stories, essays and correspondence, as well as from oral anecdotes of his contemporaries. More than an examination of his thought, the book offers the brilliant surface of his wit: observations on society, art and human nature with his characteristic mordant irony.
Published in 1997 in the El Club Diógenes collection, number 31. The cover adds the subtitle «(epigramas)».
For readers of aphorisms and classics who want to discover the irony and wit of Oscar Wilde.

Oscar Fingal O'Fflahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish author, poet and playwright. After writing in different literary styles throughout the 1880s, he became one of the most popular and influential dramatists in London in the early 1890s. He was a key figure in the emerging Aestheticism movement of the late 19th century and is widely regarded as the greatest playwright of the Victorian era. Wilde is best known for his Gothic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890), his epigrams, plays and bedtime stories for children, as well as his criminal conviction in 1895 for gross indecency and for practicing homosexual acts.
