Judge Dee, accompanied by his lieutenant Chao Tai, spends a few days in the district of Wei-ping, where the death of the local magistrate's wife and an apparently suicidal banker stir up the local underworld. The investigation comes up against a screen whose love scene has been retouched to show a violent crime.
Volume VII of the «Las aventuras del juez Di» collection by Edhasa, set in 7th-century China. Spanish edition translated by David León Gómez.
Recommended for readers of historical crime fiction seeking a well-documented setting and a suspenseful plot.
