«El Cafè de la Marina» is the dramatic work by Josep Maria de Sagarra, published by Educaula in paperback (320 pages, in Catalan).
The work recreates the seafaring world of a coastal village in Cap de Creus, condensed in a fishermen's tavern. There a classic sentimental triangle unfolds: an interested father wants to arrange his daughter's marriage to a rich suitor she dislikes, while she prefers a young man without fortune. The secondary characters and the lively popular language are two of its great strengths.
It belongs to the Educació 62 collection, volume 116. The edition includes a preliminary study, work proposals and text commentaries by Enric Martin, and a digital resource.
Recommended for readers aged 14 and over and for those studying 20th-century Catalan dramaturgy.
