«El camino» is the coming-of-age novel by Miguel Delibes, in a Planeta hardcover edition (215 pages, in Spanish).
Daniel el Mochuelo, an eleven-year-old boy, senses that his place is in the village, but his father wants him to study in the city; the night before leaving, he remembers his escapades with Roque el Moñigo and Germán el Tiñoso and the people of the town. Delibes thus portrays the rural postwar period and the transition from childhood to adolescence.
1996 edition in the Nuestros clásicos contemporáneos collection; the novel was originally published in 1950.
For readers of Spanish fiction and classics, and for those who appreciate coming-of-age stories set in a rural setting.
