In a quiet suburb of Copenhagen, the police face a chilling case: a young woman is brutally murdered and abandoned in a playground, with a hand amputated and a chestnut figure hanging over her corpse. Inspector Naia Thulin, along with Mark Hess, an inspector expelled from Europol, discover a mysterious footprint on the chestnut figure that leads them to the missing daughter of the Minister of Social Affairs, Rosa Hartung. As more murdered women appear, Thulin and Hess find themselves in a race against time to unravel the connection between the crimes and stop a killer who seems to have a macabre mission.
