El conde de Abranhos is a work by the Portuguese author Eça de Queirós, published in 2012. This book, belonging to the Narrativa del Acantilado collection, offers a critique of political customs through the exposure of the pettiness and stupidities that hide behind the figure of a man proclaimed great by an entire country. The story is told from the perspective of Zagalo, the count's secretary, whose foolishness reveals the nullity of the character when trying to make his apology.
