«El contrincante» is the suspense and horror novel by Elia Barceló, published by Ediciones Minotauro in paperback (464 pages, in Spanish).
A disappearance drives her boyfriend to obsession; two inexplicable deaths, a deranged killer and a green circle in the mirrors converge in a plot of diabolical possessions. The novel combines suspense and unconditional love with a disturbing idea: the origin of evil would be in God, who needs an adversary to sustain the world.
The novel was published on May 18, 2004 as a first edition and is part of Minotauro's Hades collection.
For readers of suspense, supernatural horror and crime fiction, with an interest in possession plots and theological background.
Elia Barceló or Elia Eisterer-Barceló was a Spanish academic in Austria and she then became a successful full-time writer. She writes in different genres and her work has been adapted to screen.
