El descrèdit de la realitat is an essay by the Valencian writer Joan Fuster, published in 1991. In this work, Fuster reflects on the crisis of reality in contemporary society, analyzing how the media and mass culture contribute to the devaluation of individual experience and the loss of meaning. The author explores topics such as the manipulation of information, the superficiality of human relationships, and the alienation of the individual in an increasingly virtual and artificial world.

Joan Fuster i Ortells was an influential Catalan writer. He is considered a major writer in the Valencian language, and his work contributed to reinvigorate left-wing, pro-Catalan nationalism in Valencia during the Spanish transition to democracy. In his influential political essay Nosaltres, els valencians (1962) he coined the term Països Catalans to refer to the Catalan-speaking territories.
