«El Desencuentro» is the novel by Fernando Schwartz, winner of the Premio Planeta, published by Planeta in hardcover (289 pages, in Spanish).
África Anglés marries at seventeen a womanizer who abandons her during the civil war, when her daughter is born. África's life, like that of so many Spanish women subjected to conventions, changes with a three-year stay in Mexico. The work alternates two parallel stories that brush against each other without ever meeting.
Fernando Schwartz won the Premio Planeta in 1996 with this work. This edition belongs to the Biblioteca Premios Planeta collection and was published in 2001.
For readers of love and heartbreak novels with a historical backdrop: a protagonist marked by social conventions and a period in Mexico.
Fernando Schwartz is a Spanish writer and former diplomat.
