«El diablo en la cabeza» is the novel by French writer and philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy, published by Espasa Calpe in 1985 in paperback (457 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows Benjamín C., a character in search of his identity through five visions of the world proposed to the reader. In a long itinerant discourse, the protagonist embodies a life that contains all the lives of a generation that lost its illusions, besieged by fascism and crossed by anger, luxury and daydreams. The work explores evil and possession as threads of that search for meaning in a chaotic world.
Originally written as «Le diable en tête», it was translated into Spanish by Emma Calatayud and won the Prix Médicis in 1984. Published in the Mañana collection of Espasa Calpe.
