«El escribiente de lápidas» is the young adult novel by Olga Xirinacs, published by Edebé in paperback (144 pages, in Spanish).
The protagonist, Jonás, devotes himself to carving inscriptions on stone and marble in a cemetery by the sea. His name alludes to the biblical prophet who lived inside a whale, but this is not a sea story.
The work was originally published in Catalan as L'escrivent de làpides. It belongs to the Periscopio collection, number 18.
Suitable for young readers and for those who enjoy short novels with a coastal setting.
