«El futuro fue ayer» is the historical novel by Torcuato Luca de Tena, published by Planeta in hardcover (348 pages, in Spanish).
The novel is presented as the supposed memoirs of Jerónimo de Aguilar, who survived the 1510 shipwreck of the brigantine in which he was traveling to America and ended up being one of the protagonists of the conquest of Mexico. The narrative combines the castaway's adventure with the historical recreation of his passage through Mayan lands until he joined the conquering enterprise.
The novel belongs to Planeta's Colección Autores Españoles e Hispanoamericanos, published in Barcelona in 1987.
Suitable for readers interested in Spanish historical fiction and in the episodes of the conquest of Mexico.
