«El Hobbit» is the fantasy novel by J. R. R. Tolkien, published by Planeta DeAgostini in hardcover (360 pages, in Spanish).
The story takes place in Middle-earth and follows Bilbo Baggins, a home-loving hobbit who joins Gandalf and a company of dwarves on a journey to the Lonely Mountain. There they must face the dragon Smaug, who guards a treasure that belonged to the dwarves. With a direct and accessible style, the novel anticipates Tolkien's great themes.
It is part of the Middle-earth series, as the first volume. Originally published in 1937, this edition belongs to the Tolkien Library.
Suitable for young and adult readers who want to approach Tolkien's epic fantasy.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was an English writer and academic philologist. He was the author of the high fantasy works The Hobbit (1937) and The Lord of the Rings (1954–1955).
