«El hombre de Alcatraz» is the biography by Thomas E. Gaddis about Robert Stroud, published by Plaza & Janés in paperback (316 pages, in Spanish).
Robert Stroud, convicted of murder, spent much of his life behind bars and became known as 'El hombre de Alcatraz'. In prison he trained himself as an autodidact ornithologist and expert in bird diseases, which he studied from his cell. Gaddis reconstructs a real life that surpasses the plots of any novel.
Translation from English by M. Orta Manzano. Number 32 in the Manantial collection from Plaza & Janés. The book was originally published in 1955 as 'The Birdman of Alcatraz'.
Recommended for readers interested in real biographies, criminal cases, and stories set in the prison system.
