«El infante de la noche» is the mystery novel by Pedro Casals Aldama, published by Planeta in hardcover (244 pages, in Spanish).
A decadent marquis, secluded in a mansion in Habsburg Madrid, refuses to live in his own era: he dresses according to the fashions of another time and takes to the streets with a small court to embody the tragedy of Prince Don Carlos, son of Philip II. The plot blends mystery, historical evocation and the atmosphere of old Madrid.
The work belongs to Planeta's Colección Autores Españoles e Hispanoamericanos, in its first edition, and won the Premio Ateneo de Sevilla in 1992.
Suitable for readers of historical and mystery fiction interested in the Spain of Philip II and Habsburg Madrid.
