«El jardín de las dudas» is the epistolary novel by Fernando Savater, published by Planeta in hardcover (248 pages, in Spanish).
An elderly Voltaire exchanges letters with Carolina de Beauregard, a French lady in Spain. He evokes his struggles against fanaticism and absolutism, with prison and exile; she describes eighteenth-century Spain, between routines and prejudices. The apocryphal letters form a novelistic narrative with a historical basis.
Finalist for the 1993 Premio Planeta, it belongs to the Colección Premio Planeta; the cover indicates the 5th edition, with 80,000 copies.
Intended for readers of historical fiction and for those who wish to delve into the Enlightenment and the figure of Voltaire.
