«El largo adiós de Ellen Olestjerne» is the bildungsroman by Franziska von Reventlow, published by Periférica in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
Ellen Olestjerne, a young noblewoman of the early twentieth century, is determined not to submit to the rules of her class. Her insistence on deciding for herself in love, work, motherhood, and her sexual life leads her to clash with boarding schools, family, and lovers. A story about bohemia and family in an era as seductive as it is complex.
Volume 25 of the Largo Recorrido collection. Work originally published as Ellen Olestjerne in German in 1903.
Recommended for readers of female coming-of-age fiction and stories about individual freedom in early twentieth-century Europe.
