«El león dormido» is a historical novel by Marian Izaguirre, published by Debolsillo in paperback (408 pages, in Spanish).
Journalist Pablo Ferrer interviews Lucía Osman, an elderly woman from Melilla who recalls her past: her father sells her to a brothel, she then falls into the hands of the Rifians and is enslaved in a mine. Her testimony uncovers uncomfortable secrets about the Disaster of Annual and the Spanish defeat in the Rif, while the memory of a great love returns.
«El león dormido» belongs to Debolsillo's Best Seller collection and won the IX Premio de Novela Ciudad de Salamanca.
Suitable for readers of historical fiction and contemporary fiction seeking a story of memory, espionage and survival in the Rif War.
