Professional hunter Sanger Rainsford finds himself adrift in the Caribbean Sea and arrives at an island inhabited by the aristocratic General Zaroff and his servant Ivan. Zaroff, a former Cossack, challenges Rainsford to participate in a deadly game: to be the prey in a human hunt. Adapted to film by Irving Pichel and Ernest B. Schoedsack, producers of King Kong, this mystery and horror novel is considered a classic. Orson Welles played Zaroff on the radio in 1945, and Robert Wise directed a new film version.
