El mono obeso

Synopsis of El mono obeso

«El mono obeso» is the popular science essay by José Enrique Campillo Álvarez, published by Booket in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).

The book analyzes why obesity, diabetes and other diseases of affluence have spread in developed societies. Campillo Álvarez reviews the last ten million years of human evolution and explains how the thrifty genotype, useful in times of famine, clashes with current diet and sedentary lifestyle. It thus aims to contribute to their prevention.
