El mundo alucinante es una novela de aventuras del escritor cubano Reinaldo Arenas, publicada en 1969. La novela narra la vida del fraile mexicano Servando Teresa de Mier, un personaje histórico que vivió a caballo entre los siglos XVIII y XIX. A través de sus incansables andanzas, el autor teje una auténtica novela de aventuras, otorgándole una dimensión fabulosa y casi mítica. La obra recorre países como España, Francia, Inglaterra, Italia, Estados Unidos y Cuba, trascendiendo la simple biografía y sumergiéndose en la tradición del barroco cubano.

Reinaldo Arenas
Reinaldo Arenas was a Cuban poet, novelist, and playwright who is known as a vocal critic of Fidel Castro, the Cuban Revolution, and the Cuban government. His memoir of the Cuban dissident movement and of being a political prisoner, Before Night Falls, was dictated after his escape to the United States during the 1980 Mariel boatlift and published posthumously. Arenas, who was dying of AIDS, killed himself in 1990.
