«El optimista» is an essay with autobiographical notes by Lluís Meseguer, published by Ellago Ediciones in paperback (136 pages, in Spanish).
Starting from the question of why call a book optimistic in times of pessimism, the work defends that vital attitude with fragmented prose and an ironic tone that vindicates experience, action and the power of the word against the noise and turbulent legacies of the 20th century.
The work belongs to the Letras collection, number 19, and appeared in Catalan as «L'optimista»; the Spanish translation is by the author himself.
For readers of essays and fragmentary prose who appreciate an ironic defense of optimism against everyday pessimism.
