«El pacto de los asesinos» is the historical novel by Max Gallo, published by Alianza Editorial in paperback (464 pages, in Spanish).
In 1917, the Italian aristocrat Julia Garelli meets the German revolutionary Heinz Knepper, close to Lenin; together they dream of transforming the world. Hitler's rise drives them into exile in the Soviet Union, where utopia becomes a nightmare: Stalin's purges, a camp in Siberia and, after the German-Soviet pact, Julia's handover to the Gestapo.
The novel belongs to the Alianza Literaria (AL) collection, translated by Wenceslao Carlos Lozano González, and is inspired by the life of Margaret Buber-Neumann.
Suitable for readers of historical fiction interested in totalitarianisms and the ideological tragedies of the 20th century.
