«El pastor mentider» is the classic children's tale by Félix María Samaniego, published by Combel Editorial as a 16-page pamphlet in Catalan.
A young shepherd gets bored watching the flock and plays a trick on the neighbors by shouting that a wolf is attacking the sheep. When he repeats the false alarm and the wolf really appears, no one comes to help him. The fable teaches a lesson about honesty and the loss of trust.
Part of the Encunyats clàssics collection, number 45. Illustrations by Margarita Ruiz Abello and translation by Mireia Cornudella Carré.
Recommended for children aged 4 to 7, especially for those starting to discover classic tales in Catalan.
Félix María Serafín Sánchez de Samaniego y Zabala was a Spanish neoclassical fabulist.
