In 'The Danger of Darkness', the third installment of the Inspector Simon Serrailler series, Susan Hill immerses us in a rural world tragically transformed by crime. The apparent tranquility of Lafferton is disturbed by the kidnapping of a child, unleashing an investigation full of mystery and suspense. Serrailler, known for his coldness and introversion, must put aside his love affairs to solve this case that threatens to explode the small police station. With elements reminiscent of the novels of Donna León or Alicia Giménez Bartlett, Hill constructs an absorbing plot that explores the media pressure and the dark secrets of a community.
