«El péndulo de Foucault» is the intrigue novel by Umberto Eco, published by Plaza & Janés in paperback (820 pages, in Spanish).
Three intellectuals working at a Milan publishing house come into contact with authors fascinated by the occult sciences and secret societies. What begins as a professional game —devising a plot supposedly hatched by the Templars— becomes a nightmare when someone takes the conspiracy too seriously.
This edition belongs to the Ave Fénix collection from Plaza & Janés. The novel was originally published in Italian in 1988 under the title Il pendolo di Foucault.
Aimed at an adult and university audience, interested in contemporary fiction with historical and mystery elements.

Umberto Eco was an Italian medievalist, philosopher, semiotician, novelist, cultural critic, and political and social commentator. In English, he is best known for his popular 1980 novel The Name of the Rose, a historical mystery combining semiotics in fiction with biblical analysis, medieval studies and literary theory, as well as Foucault's Pendulum, his 1988 novel which touches on the history of occultism and its contemporary interpretation through the new age movement.
