«El poderoso llanto de Mateo» is the children's story by Antonia Rodenas, published by Oxford University Press España in paperback (48 pages, in Spanish).
Mateo wants to go to the park, but he can't, so he bursts into inconsolable tears. His father, his mother and his grandmother try to calm him down: perhaps a toy, a blanket or a teddy bear. Mateo's crying colors everything until his family's affection brings back his smile. A story about comfort and the expression of emotions.
It is part of the El Árbol de la Lectura collection and is illustrated by Carme Solé Vendrell. Recommended for readers aged 6 to 8. Published in 2011.
It can be read with the family or in the classroom and provides a starting point for talking about feelings and the value of affection.
