«El primer naufragio» is the historical essay by Pedro J. Ramírez on the Jacobin coup d'état of 1793, published by La Esfera de los Libros in hardcover (1296 pages, in Spanish).
The book reconstructs the months between the execution of Louis XVI and the triumph of the Jacobin coup d'état, a period of urban riots, military setbacks and parliamentary struggles. Against the traditional reading of the conflict between Jacobins and Girondins as a struggle between two parties, the author argues that only the former acted as an organized party, while the lack of organization among the moderates facilitated the fall of democracy and the onset of the Terror.
Historical work published in 2011 by La Esfera de los Libros. The copy corresponds to the fifth edition, according to the imprint on the cover; the catalog entry indicates 1296 pages and hardcover.
Recommended for readers interested in the French Revolution and in the history of democracy and totalitarianism.
