«El Quadern Gris - Una Tria» is a selection from Josep Pla's diary, published by Destino CAT in paperback (175 pages, in Catalan).
The volume gathers part of the diary Josep Pla wrote between March 1918 and November 1919, when, in his early twenties, he moved between Ampurdán and Noucentista Barcelona. Through vignettes and portraits, the author shapes his view of the world while defining his literary vocation, in a work he definitively fixed in 1966.
It forms part of the first volume of Destino's Complete Works, within the El Trident collection. The selection and introduction are by Josep M. Castellet.
Josep Pla i Casadevall was a Spanish journalist and a popular author. As a journalist he worked in France, Italy, Britain, Germany, and the Soviet Union, from where he wrote political and cultural chronicles in Catalan and Spanish.
