In 'The Sanatorium', Nuria Amat presents us with an allegory of a sick and defeated civilization, where fear and accusation dominate. The inhabitants of the sanatorium, immersed in inaction, are confronted by a group of thinkers who fight against manipulation and the homogenization of ideas. This novel of ideas, with influences from authors such as Robert Walser and Marguerite Duras, reflects the present and future evils of a Europe dominated by a new authoritarianism.
