«El secreto de Hitler: La doble vida del dictador» is the historical essay by Lothar Machtan, published by Planeta in paperback (432 pages, in Spanish).
Lothar Machtan argues that Hitler's biographies ignored his homosexuality, hidden behind a double life. The book explores his intimate relationships with Rudolf Hess, Ernst Röhm, Emil Maurice and Albert Speer, and links them to the Night of the Long Knives and the blackmail he suffered. A controversial read that breaks a historiographical taboo.
The Spanish edition is from February 2005; the study originally appeared in 2001 as 'The Hidden Hitler'.
For readers of history and biography seeking revisionist and controversial approaches to the figure of Hitler.
Lothar Machtan is a German historian, writer, as well as professor of Modern and Current History at the University of Bremen.
