«El secreto de sus ojos» is the crime novel by Eduardo Sacheri, published by Alfaguara in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
After retiring, Benjamín Chaparro reconstructs in writing the homicide that obsessed him in a Buenos Aires courthouse. That memory intertwines with the secret love he felt for Irene. The plot reflects Argentina in the sixties and seventies, marked by political violence, impunity and bureaucracy.
The novel was originally published in 2005 and gave rise to the film of the same name by Juan José Campanella, winner of the Oscar for best foreign film; the screenplay is by Sacheri and Campanella.
