El señor llega es la primera novela de la trilogía 'Los gozos y las sombras', escrita por Gonzalo Torrente Ballester. La historia se desarrolla en el pueblo gallego de Pueblanueva del Conde, donde Carlos Deza regresa tras una larga ausencia. Carlos es uno de los últimos descendientes de la familia más aristocrática del lugar, cuya hegemonía es desafiada por Cayetano Salgado, un burgués enriquecido. La novela establece las rivalidades que impulsan la trama, presentando personajes como doña Mariana, Rosario 'la Galana', y Clara y Juan Aldán, en una Galicia feudal durante los turbulentos años de la República.
