«El sí de las niñas» is the play by Leandro Fernández de Moratín, published by S. A. de Promoción in 1985 in paperback, in Spanish.
The play criticizes the marriage conventions of the era and defends women's freedom to choose a husband. The plot is set in an inn in Alcalá de Henares: Don Diego, an older man, wants to marry Paquita, a young woman who loves his nephew. Through misunderstandings and lively dialogue, Moratín reflects on the education of young women and on love and respect in marriage.
Play originally published in 1806, written in prose. This edition, in Spanish and paperback, includes a preliminary study by J.J. Satorre Grau.
Recommended for readers of classic Spanish literature, 19th-century theatre and school contexts.
