«El tablero de la reina» is the historical novel by Luis Zueco, published by B in hardcover (624 pages, in Spanish).
In 1468, the murder of a nobleman brings together Gadea, a young woman passionate about chess with a dark past, and Ruy, a chronicler who loves books, in a race against time to find the culprit. Their investigations intertwine with the conspiracies of the court of Isabel, the future Isabella the Catholic, and with the origins of modern chess and the power of the queen on the board.
First installment of the duology Un mundo nuevo, set in the transition from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern period.
