«El temps envelleix de pressa» is a book of nine stories by Antonio Tabucchi, published by Edicions 62 in paperback (128 pages, in Catalan).
A former Stasi agent and an Italian officer affected by radiation in Kosovo are among the characters in the nine stories of this book, set in Eastern Europe between World War II and the end of the Cold War. Tabucchi builds these stories with a technique comparable to Arcimboldo to reflect on the passage of time, memory, and the past.
Translation from Italian by Teresa Muñoz Lloret; original work published as Il tempo invecchia in fretta. Part of the El Balancí collection.
For readers of European short fiction with an interest in the history and memory of the second half of the twentieth century.

Antonio Tabucchi was an Italian writer and academic who taught Portuguese language and literature at the University of Siena, Italy. Deeply in love with Portugal, he was an expert, critic and translator of the works of Fernando Pessoa from whom he drew the conceptions of saudade, of fiction and of the heteronyms. Tabucchi was first introduced to Pessoa's works in the 1960s when attending the Sorbonne. He was so charmed that when he returned to Italy, he took an introductory course in Portuguese for a better comprehension of the poet.
