El trabajo de los ojos is a book by Mercedes Halfon published by Las Afueras in 2019. This fragmentary and beautiful book explores the gaze through an elegant and refined style. The author tells us how her vision problems determined her way of approaching the world and how this has conditioned her writing. Through brief and heterogeneous scenes, Halfon examines her own gaze, interweaving visits to the ophthalmologist with childhood memories and family stories, creating a delicate ocular autobiography.
