Synopsis of El tren de los locos

In the summer of 1897, the Italian anarchist Michele Angiolillo assassinates the President of the Government of Spain, Antonio Cánovas del Castillo. The assassination takes place in the spa of Santa Águeda, Guipúzcoa, which after the attack becomes a psychiatric hospital. Through the eyes of Maurizia, a worker at the place, we witness the golden years of the spa and the transfer of patients from the asylums of Zaragoza and Valladolid. Xalbador, Maurizia's boyfriend, is injured and begins the search for his attacker, traveling through several cities and living various adventures. This historical novel by Patxi Irurzun mixes adventure, noir and eroticism.
