«El vampiro: antología literaria» is the horror story anthology compiled by Jacobo Siruela, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover.
The anthology traces the evolution of the vampire, from the brutal creature of Slavic legends to the almost human archetype of Gothic literature. Its fourteen stories, by authors such as Tieck, Polidori, Poe, Le Fanu or Stoker, explore the symbolism of blood and impossible immortality, and explain how the collective imaginary of the vampire was forged.
The edition, published in 2002, has 444 pages; among its stories are «Carmilla», «Drácula» and «El almohadón de pluma».
For readers of horror, Gothic literature and fantasy who want to trace the origins of the vampire myth.
